Making of 'A death in kogarah'

July is chilly month in Sydney...cold days and colder nights. 7South film company has successfully finished filming of their latest short film 'A death in Kogarah'

'A death in Kogarah' (DIK), is the script which has won second prize from Metroscreen. it's story of Simon Smith a 79 years old, suffering from progressive dementia and his relationship with his grand son Nick smith. It's also story about the changing suburb of Kogarah.

This is very ambitious project for my production company 7South, as we have first time ventured outside 15 minutes running time.

I wrote this film with John aka jack Douglass. the cast comprise of local theatre actors.

the film will be premiered in September.

synopsis:

Synopsis
'A Death in Kogarah' is a surreal journey into the inner
world of a frail old man, Simon Smith, who is devastated by
the suicide of his grandson Nink, a teenage graffiti artist.
Nink was the only connecting link for him with the 'living
world'. Everything is dying around him - his suburb, his
memory, and his friends. He is trying hard to keep alive in
this dying world by imagining the presence of a young Greek
woman from his past, Alexia.
